International Journal of Accounting Symposium Comes to Canada for First Time in 45 Years
Brock University in St. Catharines hosted the 2012 annual International Journal of Accounting symposium on July 5-7, marking the first time the event has been held in Canada.
The symposium, sponsored by CGA Ontario, Brock University, University of Illinois and the International Journal of Accounting, began in 1967 in the United States with the goal of fostering research in international accounting and within post-secondary institutions. Since 2003, the Symposium has been held in collaboration with universities throughout the world including Gottingen University in Germany, Kobe University in Japan and Universita degli Studi di Catania in Italy.
“I really admire and feel proud of CGA Ontario’s spirit to connect with a high level of excellence in teaching and academic research,” said Samir Trabelsi, CGA, associate professor of accounting, Brock University and lead organizer for the Symposium. “It’s a great opportunity for the Association as this is a world-class accounting event with an international focus.”
“This symposium attracts elite accounting scholars across the globe,” said J.D. Clarke, senior vice-president, operations, CGA Ontario. “We continue our strong commitment to research by partnering with the academic community for these important initiatives.”
The 2013 Symposium will be held at Zhongnan University in China, followed by Sao Paolo University in Brazil in 2014.
