Welcome to the Newly Redesigned 'Net Value
As you can see, we’ve made a few changes to ‘Net Value. We’ve changed the look-and-feel and expanded our audience. Beginning with this issue, CGAs AND students in the CGA program of professional studies will receive ‘Net Value.
In order to make this your one-stop shop for news about your Association, designation and event registration, we’ve sharpened our editorial focus and added some functionality. And over the coming months we’ll continue to enhance ‘Net Value’s content and capabilities.
Here are a couple of things to look for with the redesigned ‘Net Value.
Professional Development
One thing you’ll notice about the new design is the regional tabs at the top. Each tab corresponds to one of the geographic regions used in the event registration application on the CGA Ontario website. By clicking on a tab you will see a listing of all of the seminars and events taking place in that region over the following six weeks.
From there you can look over the list, click on an event that interests you, and get more information about it. Then you can click on the Register link and go right to event registration to sign up for it.
We’ll try to make sure each issue of ‘Net Value is as up-to-date as possible, but if you notice an event is missing, please feel free to email the editor.
Timeliness
In addition, ‘Net Value will now be coming to your inbox twice a month. We’ll still be sending a version out on the last Wednesday of each month, but we’ll also be issuing one mid-month. This allows us to get you the information you need sooner than before.
We’ll continue to look at ways to make getting you the information you need simpler and more efficient. Your opinion is important, so if you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve ‘Net Value, please feel free to email the editor of ‘Net Value, Christopher Stephenson, at cstephenson@cga-ontario.org. |

CGA Ontario Responds to C.D. Howe Report on Interprovincial Labour Mobility
CGA Ontario supports the report issued by the C.D. Howe Institute that recommends reducing barriers to labour mobility and increasing competition within regulated professions. Currently, Ontario’s public accounting licensing system does not comply with the revised chapter on labour mobility and the mutual recognition principle.

Be Sure to Register for Our Newest PD Programs
In April we announced the creation of two new professional development programs: the CGA Ontario/Ivey Strategic Leadership Program and the Certificate in Human Resources for CGAs.
The CGA Ontario/Ivey Strategic Leadership Program, created in partnership with the Richard Ivey School of Business, is a three-day program that begins on August 17, 2010. This program is designed to sharpen the strategic thinking and leadership skills of senior managers facing a rapidly changing and increasingly complex business environment. For further details, go to the CGA Ontario/Ivey Certificate in Strategic Leadership page of CGA Ontario’s website.
The Certificate in Human Resources for CGAs, which was created in partnership with the Human Resources Professionals Association, is a two-day program that begins on August 24, 2010. CGAs employed by small- to medium-sized enterprises and tasked with cross-discipline roles will find this program particularly interesting. Tell Prospective Students About the CGA Program of Professional Studies
Have you told an aspiring accountant about the CGA program of professional studies?
This spring, make it your mission to tell one person a week about the CGA program. Start by requesting a CGA program calendar from CGA Ontario to give to a friend or family member, or perhaps someone in your office, church, local community or social circle, who shows the interest and capability to excel as a designated accounting and finance professional.
Even better, why not inform prospective students about the CGA program through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or simply by email? You could include a link to cga-ontario.org!
